GENERAL SUMMARY, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Under direct supervision, the Technology Technician will support student learning and the District by maintaining information technology systems, networks, and equipment to ensure functionality and efficiency of the Districts computers and software applications, and serve as a resource to District personnel to answer questions, resolve issues and troubleshoot problems with hardware or software

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Computer Networking or other related technology field preferred
  • Three years of work experience in technology environment preferred; network experience preferred
  • Experience supporting Windows 10, G-Suite products, MS Office, internet browsers, printer setup, and instructional software
  • A valid Nebraska Driver’s license and the ability to drive an automobile
  • Clear a state criminal record check and a child abuse check
  • Be a minimum of 18 years old

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, WITH FREQUENCIES:

  1. (C) Support student learning, professional development and District goals by helping maintain technology systems that support the District’s instructional framework and operations; assist with efforts to integrate technology in the classrooms for the purpose of improving classroom performance; help oversee all areas of network security and technology, including but not limited to hardware, software, system maintenance, upgrades, licensing, and data privacy.
  2. (C) Exhibit exceptional communicational skills, both verbal and written, teaching adult learners, effectively communicating with administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders regarding technology initiatives.
  3. (C) Demonstrate professionalism at all times when working with applicants and staff members; exercise good judgment; effectively collaborate with others in a courteous and honest manner; conduct oneself according to the policies of the District and the Nebraska Board of Education
  4. 4. (C) Regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job in order to maintain a student’s regular routines, foster student learning and build student relationships; the ability to perform the identified tasks and possess the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; the ability to perform the identified physical requirements

Examples of typical performance responsibilities are listed below (not intended to be all-inclusive).  There may be other duties assigned to a Technology Technician by District Administration as part of fulfilling goals that support student learning.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the technology team and other staff members to promote the effective use of technology resources and integrate that knowledge into the curriculum
  • Oversee the daily performance of the District’s computer system
  • Conduct inventory of software and hardware
  • Maintain and track usage of computer supplies within the buildings
  • Establish strong standards of professional ethics when relating to staff, students, parents, administration and the community
  • Communicate clearly and in a professional manner with District Administration, teachers, applicants and other staff members
  • Learn to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality information concerning staff and applicants, in accordance with the law and District policies
  • Demonstrate positive attitude, school loyalty, cooperation, and teamwork
  • Receives direction from the Director, Technology or other Central Office Administrators

 

Job Tasks

  • Travel to District buildings for training or troubleshooting purposes as needed
  • Equipment repurposing, machine imaging, hardware installation and software installation and configuration
  • Test software applications and equipment performance to maintain highest operating levels
  • Teach other staff members to use computer equipment or software
  • Perform system troubleshooting, general computer maintenance and repairs
  • Answer user inquiries and resolve user issues regarding software or hardware operations
  • Attend staff meetings
