Project SEARCH is a one year internship-based program hosted at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. The program targets students in their final year of special education and related services eligibility. Project SEARCH consists of up to three 10-12 week internships that assist students in learning and applying essential employability skills necessary to obtain and maintain competitive employment within their community.
The Transition Coach will provide support to the young adult learners in the following areas of programming.
Academic Instruction
- Occurs in a classroom type setting for 1 hour each day
- Focus on employability, social, independent living, and soft skills
- Opportunities for career exploration
Vocational
- Students participate in up to three 10-12 week internship rotations
- A job coach/teacher assistant assists in students learning the requirements and expectations of the job
- Productivity, accuracy, soft skills, and job tasks are monitored and supported
- Students spend their entire day in their rotation with the exception of 1 hour of instructional time each day.
Starting Pay: Transition Coach = $19.70/hour
Hours: 6.5 hours/day

Education, and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Clear a state criminal record check and a child abuse check
- Be a minimum of 18 years old
Benefits:
Sick Leave: One (1) week worth of regularly scheduled hours
Personal Leave: Three (3) days of regularly scheduled hours
State Retirement: The District matches your contribution of 9.78 percent by 101 percent.
