Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred
- Valid CDL and valid NE school bus driver's license (District may support acquiring licensure for selected candidates)
- Safe driving record
- Background check clearance
- Prompt and dependable attendance to assigned routes and shifts
- Successfully pass DOT physical, as required by law
Hours: Sub Route Drivers will typically pick up and drive students to school in the morning and pick up students and drive students home in the afternoon on an as-needed basis.
Essential Functions: To maintain and promote the safe transportation of students and staff and the safe handling of school bus vehicles, the sub route driver will:
- Obey all traffic laws
- Obey and observe all mandatory school bus safety regulations
- Maintain and prioritize student and staff safety anytime they are being transported
- Keep the assigned schedule and routes for activity trips as outlined by the Activities Director
- Demonstrate professionalism on all in-district and out-of-district trips
- Transport only authorized riders
- Enforce all rules regarding bus rider behavior
- Maintain discipline when students are on the bus and report behavior incidents to Administration
- Maintain a clean vehicle for all routes/shifts
- Notify the Administration and/or District Maintenance Coordinator immediately, in writing, of any vehicle mechanical defect or failure
- Report and submit all documents relating to accidents and incidents to the proper authorities (Executive Director of Student and Business Services, law enforcement officials, school administrators, parents and guardians)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration
